The company was founded in 1969. We are a well-respected industry leader and an award-winning building construction company. Our primary focus is on the building, construction, and project management of public HDB housing projects, as well as residential, commercial, and industrial development locally. Our strength emanates from our strong and close relationship with clients, business partners and employees, and the relentless pursuit of continuous improvements. Today, Straits Construction Group, together with its subsidiaries, has played a major role in transforming Singapore’s urban landscape.
What do we do
Straits Construction is one of Singapore Leading Builders with projects spanning across both the public and private sectors, from residential to commercial and Industrial projects. Right from the start, we saw how we could do things better and faster. We are not just builders who know our craft well; we are innovators and solution providers looking for sustainable ways to improve the space where communities live and work in. Some of our latest initiatives include leveraging technology to improve product quality and manufacturing processes, training, and development to raise the skill levels of the industry and spearheading one of Singapore’s integrated construction and prefabrication hubs to improve productivity.
History and Milestones
The history of Straits Construction began with the vision and fervour of a young man. As a teenager, Wong Swee Chun joined the construction industry as an apprentice to fulfil his passion for building homes. Amassing his experience and motivated by the rapid development in Singapore, he started Straits Construction in 1969.
Straits Construction secured its first public housing construction project at Serangoon Avenue 4 in 1982. Since then, Straits Construction has grown from strength to strength. Today the company has in its capacity, over 350 full-time staff as well as over 450 direct workers, delivering distinctive quality projects for our clients.
