Precast System Technology

Since the 1990s, Straits Construction has been adopting Precast Systems in Public Housing Projects. In May 2014, Straits Construction secured a Public Tender to build and operate an Integrated Construction and Prefabrication Hub (ICPH), today known as Greyform. This is one of the key initiatives the Singapore government had introduced to upgrade the productivity of the construction industry by adopting highly productive technology and automation. Completed in 2017, Greyform has enabled Straits Construction to become a major supplier of precast components to the industry, thereby enhancing our competitiveness. It has also added another dimension to our business and generate significant new revenue streams.

Prefabrication Bathroom Unit

Straits Construction is one of the early pioneers implementing Prefabricated Bathroom Units (PBU) in housing projects. This system not only enabled productivity gain in the construction cycle, it has also provided and improved the quality and finishes of the project. Today, with the acquired knowledge learnt from the different concepts and technology deployable with PBU, Greyform with its ICPH facility, manufactures prefabricated bathroom units under a License Agreement with a major Italian PBU producer.

Building Information Modelling

After much careful planning, Straits Construction embarked on a BIM journey in the year 2013. The idea was to evangelise a transformation with this Technology, to the way it delivers Building Projects in the most effective and efficient way. Since then, Straits Construction has gathered much recognition as a leader in this effort within the Industry. In June 2016, Straits Construction was awarded the “Platinum BIM Award (Organisation)” from the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore.

Training Centre and Facilities

In keeping pace with skills and relevancies, Straits Construction has built a training centre equipped with pertinent facilities, to support capabilities development, such as the use of construction equipment and technology, safety training and software technology. This facility is located in our one-stop hub in Tuas; TOOLBOX.
